Skier reports massive avalanche in The How Gills
With plenty of snow having fallen on old icy snow the risk of Avalanche runs high in Scotland and as we have warned already, Cumbria too. I discovered via Twitter that indeed there has been at least one incident in the last week.
Langdale mountain Rescue Team needs Drupal Developers 16th - 17th Jan
This web site is built on Drupal CMS, Chris Maiden aka Matason is trying to reach as many Drupal developers as he can to help rebuild the Langdale / Ambleside Mountain Rescue Teams website on the weekend of the 15th - 17th Jan.

Superb snowy scenes all over The Lakes
We continue to enjoy a prolonged snowy time here in The Lake District with most fells covered in snow to valley level. All major roads are clear and most minor roads are passable with care. The whole of The Lake District is looking stunning with most mountains now completely covered in snow. Friday has seen further snow falls with more forecast over the weekend.

Following the unprecidented levels of rainfall last week the communities in Cumbria effected by the flooding have had a hard week coming to terms with the challenges ahead. There have been plenty of examples of heart warming gestures, efforts and donations from near and far.
Storms continue to batter Cumbria - 55 people still missing
55 people in Cumbria still remain unaccounted for as th weather continues to batter the county.
