Campsites in The Lake District

There is a good provision for camping in The Lake District. Locations range from farmers fields with a tap right up to camping parks with shops, shower blocks and playgrounds for the kids.

National Trust Campsites in The Lake District

The National Trust have three high quality campsites.

  • Low Wray - fully facilitated site situated on the northern shores of Lake Windermere on the western side about 15 minutes drive from Ambleside
  • Wasdale - a simpler site, just a field, toilet and tap! Located at Wasdale Head
  • Great Langdale - a large camp site with toilet and shower blocks, good on site shop. Located at the top of Langdale valley, a superb location for accessing the mountains.
