Pass
Whinlatter Pass
The Whinlatter Pass takes you from Braithwaite, near Keswick, through the Whinlatter Forest to High Lorton in Lorton Vale. The route can be combined with the Honister Pass to make one of the most impressive scenic drives in Cumbria taking in Crummock Water, Buttermere and Borrowdale.
Honister Pass
The Honister Pass links Borrowdale with Buttermere and is a steep winding route passing the Honister Slate Mines which is open during the day for tours and teas. The road is not for the feint hearted, not quite as severe as Hardknot and Wrynose but still challenging. The scenery you pass amongst is stunning, steep sided scree slopes and towering lakeland fells.
Kirkstone Pass Summit
Set between Ullswater and Windermere the Kirkstone Pass affords stunning views of lakeland scenery. On either side gaze at mountain streams, steep hillsides and magnificent fells such as High Street and Red Screes. The Kirkstone Pass in at the sumiit is the highest pub in Cumbria, whilst the ever popular Brotherswater Inn further towards Ullswater is a superb place to grab some real Cumbrian fayre, beware, the portions are imense.
