Red Tarn sit nestled between Swirral and Striding Edge on Helvellyn in the central lake district. It is a cold high mountain tarn which often freezes in winter. It is a sheltered location and is popular as a rough camping site with mountaineers. Pictured here in winter we are looking down from a vantage point on the last stretches of Striding Edge before the summit of Helvellyn itself.
