Waterfall
Sour Milk Ghyll
Sour Milk Ghyll is easily approached along mostly level prepared footpaths from Grasmere village. It is a short walk to a pleasant cascade which takes you through some picture postcard meadows and farm land. A great walk to take kids on since it is a sheltered valley and very little ascent is required.
Dungeon Ghyll
A relatively easy ascent of a well formed footpath enables a good vantage of Dungeon Ghyll, a torrent of varying size depending on the weather. Obviously the cascade is at its best during or after heavy rain. It is one of the more impressive waterfalls in the Lake District. The more adventurous tourist will be rewarded by the imposing cliffs of Pavey Ark and waters of Stickle Tarn which feed the Ghyll. The footpath is slightly more challenging as you proceed higher towards the Tarn and care is needed as it passes close to some edges.
