I enjoyed a superb day on Blencathra today, the weather was quite bleak and atmospheric, and whilst out I felt the rock was pretty slippy under foot. I reflected on how important is to choose the right walk for the conditions and was glad that I hadn't selected a more difficult scramble than I had. Sadly I heard later today, that someone had died whilst attempting Sharp Edge today. I am always saddened to hear of the demise of a fellow fell walker.

It is sobering to think that when you are on the fells that you could be a step away from your makers, please take care in 2008 and make sure you read the conditions, weather, and chose an appropriate route for your parties ability.
