Keswick
Keswick has become the main centre for tourism in the North Lakes. It is a pretty market town which offers a wide variety of attractions and facilities. Keswick is situated between Skiddaw and Derwentwater. There are plenty of low level walks suitable for families with young children, cruises on Derwent Water and several good museums. Keswick offers great facilities including the wonderful Theatre by the Lake, Alhambra Cinema, Cottage Hospital, Banks and Building Societies, specialist outdoor shops, art galleries, Keswick Climbing Wall, Cumberland Pencil Museum, the Puzzling Place to mention just a few attractions. Whinlatter Forest Park (7 miles) Honister Slate Mine (8 miles) and Rheged Visitor Centre (16 miles) are well worth a visit.
