Langdale Valley
Langdale valley is one of the most popular and easily reached in The Lake District. It is a short drive from Ambleside and offers a gateway to some superb mountain scenery. Dominated by the distinctive Langdale Pikes and most noticably Pike Of Stickle, this winding valley has huge appeal to fell walkers and climbers. Famous for Dungeon Ghyll, a mountain stream which cascades down from the mountains with several impressive falls. Dungeon Ghyll is easily achievable and should be high on the list for any Lake District visitor.
The Old Dungeon Ghyll Pub at the head of the valley is a superb ancient pub frequented by hill walkers & local musicians alike. it has a stone floor and a spit and sawdust atmosphere with good hearty local food and fine hand pulled ales.
Langdale National Trust Campsite is large and has good facilities. It is very well situated for day trips into the mountains and is an excellent base for any fell walking or climbing.
