Pike of Stickle is one of the most iconic mountains in the Lake District. The trained eye can pick out this mountain from as far away as Blackpool. It towers out of Langdale Valley and is climbed most readily via a route up Dungeon Ghyll. From the pronounced dome shaped summit you get a real sense of how severe the slope is down to Langdale. It stands alone, a rocky prominentary from which you can see over to Crinkle Crags and Bowfell.
