This purpose built visitor attraction rest sympathetically with the landscape. Its design is such that main structure of the building sits beneath the ground in a huge earth bank, the roof is covered in grass. From a short distance it is difficult to make the building out.

Within the bulidng you will find a range of interesting shops from James Cropper paper mercahants to a cranstons specialist food hall selling one of the largest ranges of Cumbrian produce available.

Rheged has a superb Imax cinema which displays a range of 360 degree films with often with a mountain leaning.
