This small settlement has few facilites but is very popular as a base for expploring the cetnral lakes. It boast an excellent cafe at Touchstone Galleries and has one pub.
Fellwalkers and those enjoying low level walks will enjoy the surrounding area where there are plenty of river side and woodland trails and of course nearby Langdale Valley.
Skelwith Bridge is a perfect alternative to Ambleside for those seeking a quieter location only a short drive from amenities. There are a host of holiday cottages and camp / caravan sites in the immediate viscinity.
