Trotters World of Animals - Bassenthwaite Keswick Lake District Cumbria
We have just been to Trotters World of Animals near Keswick and had a fantastic day. Located at the top end of Bassenthwaite Lake north of Keswick, this superb animal attraction will keep your toddler or younger children amused for hours. The large parkland grounds are surrounded by an impressive backdrop of woodland and Lakeland Fells such as Skiddaw.
I was really surprised at the range of animals we saw, the enclosures are well kept, big and the wildlife seemed very contented and active. Expect to see Wild Boar, Fishing Cats, Canadian Lynx, Meerkats, Emu, Otters, Mandrill, Red Pandas, Golden Eagles, Zebra, a wide range of Monkeys, Owls and much more besides.
The attraction is well organised with prepared paths suitable for prams and wheelchairs which lead you around the enclosures. There is a large picnic area and a good safe toddler play area with slide and climbing frame. The indoor soft play area would be a bonus on days when the weather is patchy.
There is a good baby changing facility, cafe with simple snacks and average coffee but we didn't come for nor expect a culinary experience.
We thought Trotters World of Animals was good value for money and will occupy an interested child for at least several hours. Our toddler did not want to leave!
